Mark Bell
New Technical Director
The Campbell River Youth Soccer Association (CRYSA) would like to announce the hiring of a new full-time Technical Director.
Forty-Four year old Mark Bell will take up his new position later this month, moving from Kamloops, BC where he currently resides.
Mark is a Canadian Soccer National B License coach. He also holds a CSA Children’s License, Learning Facilitators License, BC Technical Directors Diploma and a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Advanced National Coaching Diploma.
Mark most recently served as the Senior Staff Coach with the Kamloops Youth Soccer Association for 7 seasons where his leadership and guidance helped their Rep Program bring home 27 Medals from B Cup Provincials over a 5 year period. Also while in Kamloops, Mark was the Head Coach of the 2022 BC Summer Games Girls Team who won a Silver Medal at the Summer Games in PG. He also worked as an Assistant Coach with the TRU Women’s University Team for 2 seasons.
Before moving to Kamloops, Mark was the Assistant Coach of the Douglas College Women’s Soccer Team in New Westminster. The Douglas College Royals reached the finals of the 2016 CCAA National Championships held in Montreal, where they finished with the Bronze Medal––the first time the College Women’s Team had returned with some silverware.
Over the past 2 decades, Mark has also had coaching roles with the West Coast Auto Football Club in Maple Ridge, Medicine Hat Soccer Association, the Lower Island Soccer Association BCSPL and Super Y Programs, the Vancouver Island Soccer Academy, as well as a handful of soccer clubs in Greater Victoria. He also had the opportunity to work with the Victoria Highlanders Women’s semi-pro team who played in the USL W-League.
Mark, who gained valuable experience working in the Arsenal FC’s summer programs in England in 2000, before moving on to start his professional coaching career a year later with Total Soccer Systems in Richmond, BC, says, “I have worked in some great environments that include youth clubs, high schools, private academies, and the College/University level, but to now come back to the island and have this opportunity with the Campbell River Youth Soccer Association is a dream come true! I hope my passionate, positive, patient style of coaching helps impact all the players and coaches in Campbell River for years to come!”
