Each team shall field 6 players. Coaches are encouraged to maximize participation. It is courtesy to match the number of players on each team but not required. If a team has less than 6 players, the game is defaulted but shall be played as an exhibition game. In the case of a default, the team with more players may lend players to the defaulting team to make up a game with sides of equal numbers.
The game is divided into two 20 minute halves. Time is not stopped except for a serious injury. There is a half time break of approximately 5 minutes after which play will resume with teams on opposite ends of the field from the first half.
Each player must participate a MINUMUM OF 50% of the total playing time.
Unlimited substitutions, but during a stoppage in play only, and upon the signal of the referee.
There are no offsides in any Mini Soccer games.
The normal throw-in rule to apply, ONE re-throw allowed.
The goal keeper cannot handle the ball outside the goal area.
Opposing players must be a minimum of 10 yards from the ball on goal kicks, corners and indirect free kicks.
All kicks are indirect kicks, meaning two players must play the ball for it to be in play. The ball cannot be kicked directly into the goal on any free kick.
If a team goes ahead by 5 goals, the losing team can put an extra player on the field or the winning team takes a player off the field until the game is played on equal terms. This is called the MERCY RULE
Slide tackling is not allowed.
The referee will try to explain the rules and any infractions that may occur on the field of play. We ask that all players, coaches and spectators refrain from openly criticizing our officials during games. If there is a problem ask your coach to report anything problems to their Divisional Managers.
